As I edited my silly pages for the umpteenth time, making tweaks here and there, publishing, and checking the page in a two-tabbed, back and forth motion, I decided to peek at my Ping Optimizer log…  The screenshot below shows about half of the transactions – the rest are all “‘About’ was Edited”…  No wonder most blogs get trashed by the ping/search engines.  The simple process of tweaking a webpage in Wordpress can result in dozens of spam pings:

If all of those blocked pings had gone through (as they normally would in Wordpress), I would have already been banned by several of the ping engines.  I would never create another Wordpress blog/page without using this plugin, the MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin.  Honestly, I don’t know why this isn’t built into Wordpress by now.
