About
jpowens.com is the attempt of one hyper-focused multi-interest-bearing individual to bring all of his current doings together into a crisply subdivided, attractive and palatable website in an effort to inspire, assist, teach, share and simply bore other individuals out on the web.
The ART Site is a place for my scribblings, “paintings”, doodles, avatarring, web art and anything else I decide to do that has in any way something resembling an “artistic” bent. Mostly my “art” will be static creations I intend in some way to animate…
The Cartoon Site is where my animation toyings will go. The goal of course is to become a decent animator. The reality is (3xkids + 1xfulltimejob) = dammit. As this section grows you will know that I am a happier person.
The DIY Site is where I’ll share tutorials, video, descriptions and solutions/instructions for household improvement jobs that I take on. I’ll also pass along any great links I find online. I’m finding DIY to be a blast, when time permits…
The Music Site is where I’ll share music I create, tips/resources/links/freebies I find for music-making, and anything else I like related to music. I like everything from jazz to jam, rock, folk, funk, and so on. Links to good Phish videos will certainly be found here…
The Photography Site is where I’ll share photographs I take, share resources or great tutorials I find, and share any tutorials or tips I create. I’m only starting to enjoy the world of photography – there’s so much to do!
The Websites Site is where I’ll be sharing tips/info/resources about site-building. This can range from CSS tricks to HTML tutorials to installing a certain wordpress theme. I’ll also be creating sites to sell both here and on “flippa”, which used to be SitePoint. In addition I may take requests to do some website work for a reasonable price.
“So do you expect to make money with all of this?”
– Not for awhile, no. I hope to build a nice collection of work in the art, cartoons, diy, and other sites. Everything will be free. Tutorials, downloads, resources, etc will always be free. Once I have a decent collection in any category, I will also create a product for it. For instance, a collection of “art” or (more likely) a set of website graphics or icons, a season or collection of cartoons, a DVD’s worth of DIY tutorial videos, a CD of music, etc. The things available on those products will always be free on the website, but you can buy a collection, if you’d like, for convenience. And of course, any website work or websites flipped using my site will be great.
Enough said. Enjoy the site(s)!
